Droppery Combines API-First Approach with EDI Connector for Smoother Order Processing
At many well-known retailers such as XXXLutz, Bauhaus, OBI, and Woonexpress, integrations with suppliers still largely rely on EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). Droppery is responding to this with an expansion of its API-first strategy, having developed a new EDI connector that enables even stronger connections between retailers and suppliers.
With this innovation, crucial processes such as order handling, order responses, invoicing, and other EDI flows can be fully automated—without suppliers needing to invest in complex or costly software implementations.
Fully Automated Order Handling
The new EDI connector ensures that orders coming in from retailers are immediately processed through the connected supplier’s API. Manual data mapping or transferring is now a thing of the past—order information is transmitted accurately and efficiently.
A practical example is Droppery’s collaboration with De Mandemakers Group, which includes Woonexpress. Droppery not only processes the orders but also automatically maps and routes them to the correct supplier. This results in a streamlined workflow and a faster, more reliable service for end customers.
A Smart Solution for Delivery Challenges
In cases where a supplier is unable to fulfill certain deliveries, Droppery provides a practical solution: an automatic pickup appointment is scheduled to ensure delivery to the end customer. This keeps the supply chain running smoothly and ensures that consumers experience no disruption.
Bridging API and EDI
“With this development, we demonstrate that API-first and EDI are not opposites but can actually complement each other,” says Marco Mulder, CEO of Droppery.
“By linking traditional EDI processes with modern API technology, we are creating a flexible, scalable, and future-proof ecosystem for retailers and suppliers in the home and interior industry.”
