RV Design expands its table collection with Deckstone tops
Ronald Verdult, founder of RV Design, reflects on a strong 2023 and looks ahead to the next edition of Meubelhart Beusichem. “At the end of last year, we added drop shipments to our services, and it’s going very well, so we’re expanding that. We’ll also showcase our growing and successful table program featuring Deckstone tops,” he explains. Verdult remains realistic about the challenges facing retail this year: “For many people, vacations and going out are currently more important than refreshing their interiors.”
A stable year with new opportunities
“I’m very satisfied with 2023,” says Verdult. “It was a stable year without major disruptions like in previous years. We started 2024 well, although in the last two months of 2023 we noticed that consumers were spending less.” He expects another stable but slightly softer year ahead: “There are many bankruptcies on the high streets, which hurts consumer confidence. Retailers are struggling because people are spending huge amounts on leisure and travel instead of furniture. They look at the interiors they bought during the pandemic and think, ‘It’ll last a bit longer.’ Still, I see plenty of opportunities for my business this year.”
Dropshipment with Droppery
RV Design has been using dropshipment for its chair collection, and according to Verdult, it’s been a great success. “We started working with Droppery at the end of last year to make our entire collection available for online orders and dropship deliveries throughout the Benelux and potentially beyond. Our table collection is also performing well, and we’re expanding it further. The new Deckstone tabletops, which resemble ceramic but are much more affordable, are proving very popular.”
The importance of collaboration
Verdult emphasizes that cooperation remains crucial to success in the furniture sector. “I often see collaborations fall apart after the first setback. It’s essential to invest in long-term relationships and stay loyal to one another through good and bad times. New players will always grab some market share—that’s normal—but established partnerships should be valued. Think about what you’ve achieved together.”
RV Design has long been a participant at Meubelhart Beusichem, where they feel right at home. “The trade here suits us perfectly; it’s where we want retailers to find us. We have great mutual relationships with other exhibitors and often refer customers to one another. That’s our strength.”
